Skate gear is a huge industry and includes skateboards and longboards themselves, apparel and accessories, and safety equipment. Most skate brands offer at least some variety in these areas, and many skateboarders become loyal to certain skate gear manufacturers.

Skate gear and apparel is sold at online retailers and in many local stores. A skateboarder can outfit themselves with the latest styles in shoes, clothing, hats, belts, watches and accessories such as key chains and wallets. Consumers can browse the countless online retailers to see the latest gear updates from their favorite brands, and find sizes previously sold out in stores.

Protective gear and safety equipment is also a large component of the skate gear industry. Many skaters invest in helmets, knee and elbow pads to protect them while riding. This is of special importance since the sport is highly dangerous and takes place on hard surfaces, such as concrete.
