Skateboard shoes
Skateboard shoes are specially outfitted and designed
for use while skateboarding. Although many non-skateboarders also wear
skate company products, apparel and shoes, the design of a skate shoe
is specific to the wear and tear skateboarders take while riding.
The features of many skateboard shoes include a flat sole, molded out
of rubber, that works in harmony with a skateboard’s grip tape,
along with kick-offs and peddling. They are generally made of leather
or suede, in addition to some synthetic components that can take constant
contact with grip tape, which has a sand paper like texture.
Many skateboard companies have come up with specific features that
increase the durability of their skateboard shoes. These include Super
Suede and Action Leather, along with lace loops and protectors that
are designed to prevent laces from shredding when they scrape up against
grip tape or pavement.
